The Xperia S is the first Sony-branded phone we've seen - Sony having bought out Ericsson's part of the Sony Ericsson joint venture in February. It's a hugely powerful smartphone. The Sony Ericsson Xperia S is another high end smartphone from Sony's flagship product line. The phone runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, which can be upgraded to Android 4.0. Xperia S is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor. The Adreno 220 processor provides good visuals and the 1 GB RAM helps in smooth multi-tasking. The Sony Ericsson Xperia S weighs about 144 grams and it is only 10.6 mm thick. The display screen of the phone is 4.3-inch wide and it has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The display screen of the phone supports more than 16 million colours. The Xperia S features an impressive 12 MP camera that can take pictures with great clarity. The camera is also supported by a range of additional features that can enhance the image quality. HD video recording can be done at 1080p and 30 fps. The phone also features a 1.3 MP secondary camera. The Sony Ericsson Xperia S comes with a 1750 mAh battery that offers up to 7.5 hours talk time in 2G and 8.5 hours talk time in 3G. Standby time of the battery is 450 hours in 2G and 420 hours in 3G. The phone's memory capability cannot be expanded. However, it has 32 GB internal memory for storing various files and applications. The phone has GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi and 3G for connecting to the internet. The phone is preloaded with a lot of apps for providing entertainment. Users can also customize the handset by downloading new apps from the Android market. Bluetooth and micro USB port is available for file transfer with other devices. Other features in the phone include A-GPS, document viewer, Push Email and TV launcher etc. The Sony Xperia S has an undeniably gorgeous HD screen, high-quality audio, an impressive camera and plenty of clout.
